Senior Advocate Kewal Krishna Dies at 75 in Jamshedpur

District Bar Association to Suspend Court Work Monday in Tribute to 50-Year Legal Veteran

JAMSHEDPUR — Kewal Krishna, a senior advocate of the District Civil Court, died on Saturday while undergoing treatment at Tata Main Hospital, leaving behind a legal career spanning over five decades.

Krishna was 75 years old. He had been suffering from a prolonged illness. A resident of Bhuiyandih, he had been associated with the district’s legal fraternity for more than 50 years.

According to advocate Akshay Kumar Jha, Krishna had begun his legal practice in 1974. Over the course of his career, he appeared in district court cases for leaders of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha. He handled a large number of their cases.

Krishna is survived by two sons. One of them, Vikas, has also taken up the legal profession.

His passing drew condolences from across the Jamshedpur legal community. Jharkhand State Bar Council Vice President Rajesh Kumar Shukla expressed grief. District Bar Association President R.N. Das, Vice President Balai Panda, General Secretary Kumar Rajesh Ranjan, and Joint Secretary Sanjeev Ranjan Bariyar were among those who condoled his death.

As a mark of respect, all advocates of the District Bar Association will refrain from conducting judicial work during the second session on Monday.
