Tata Power Launches EZ Home Automation in Jamshedpur
Smart Solutions Promise 15% Power Savings and ₹10,000 Annual Bill Reduction
Key Points:
- Tata Power EZ Home launched in Jamshedpur with app-based smart controls
- System can cut electricity consumption by around 15%, saving 1,300+ units yearly
- Launch is part of Tata Power’s ‘100 Cities, 1 Purpose’ smart living initiative
JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Power has introduced its EZ Home Solutions in Jamshedpur, offering intelligent home automation that promises significant energy savings and enhanced residential security.
The EZ Home system operates through an app-based interface. It gives users control over lighting, climate, security, and energy management from a single platform.
The product range includes smart sockets, touch-panel switches, motion sensors, and retrofittable converters. Moreover, these components are designed to integrate into existing home infrastructure without requiring a complete overhaul.
Key system features include automated scheduling, overload protection, and offline functionality. The offline capability ensures reliable performance even without an active internet connection.
For a typical urban household running air conditioners, a refrigerator, fans, and a washing machine, the projected annual impact is as follows:
| Parameter | Estimated Annual Impact |
|---|---|
| Electricity Consumption Reduction | Approx. 15% |
| Units of Electricity Saved | 1,300+ units per year |
| Estimated Bill Savings | Approx. ₹10,000 annually |
| Carbon Emissions Offset | Roughly 1.1 tonnes CO₂ per year |
| Environmental Equivalent | ≈ 15 trees planted annually |
Air-conditioning optimisation accounts for the largest share of the projected savings. In addition, automated scheduling and smart control of everyday appliances further contribute to reduced consumption.
The 1.1-tonne annual offset in CO₂ emissions is equivalent to planting approximately 15 trees each year. Meanwhile, the system’s energy tracking feature allows households to identify wasteful consumption patterns and address them proactively.
An interactive demonstration wall was set up at the Jamshedpur launch venue. Visitors were able to engage with automation features in real time and visualise potential savings on the spot.
Tata Power EZ Home had earlier won an AI/ML Innovation Award in December 2025, recognising its technology-driven approach to residential energy management.
The Jamshedpur rollout is part of the company’s broader ‘100 Cities, 1 Purpose’ initiative, which aims to accelerate smart living adoption across India. The campaign targets households in urban centres with energy-efficient and future-ready solutions.
Tata Power has had a sustained presence in Jamshedpur over the years. However, the EZ Home launch marks the company’s first structured push into the residential automation segment in the city.
The company had previously signed a ₹1.2 lakh crore MoU with the Rajasthan government in September 2024 for large-scale energy projects. On the other hand, its Jamshedpur operations have also faced labour unrest, with trade unions staging protests at the Tata Power gate as recently as February 3, 2026. In addition, AITUC had called on Tata Power workers to join a strike on February 12, 2026.
