JAMSHEDPUR – The Railway Protection Force seized 16 kg of illegal ganja at Tatanagar station and arrested two traffickers during Operation Narcos.

The crackdown was carried out under Operation Narcos. However, the action followed specific intelligence inputs.

The drive was conducted on Thursday night. Meanwhile, the RPF flying squad carried out special checks.

The team acted on the direction of Senior Divisional Security Commissioner P Shankar Kutty. Moreover, two suspects were detained for questioning.

During frisking, 16 kilograms of ganja were recovered. However, officials estimated its market value at about Rs 8 lakh.

The arrested were identified as Tabrez Alam and Neyaz Ahmad. Meanwhile, both are residents of Bhitaha police station area in Bettiah, West Champaran district.

During preliminary interrogation, the accused revealed their route. Moreover, they said the consignment was brought from Rupra Road station.

They transported it by train to Tatanagar railway station. However, they planned to travel onward via Patna to Bettiah.

Police said the ganja was meant for supply in Bettiah. Meanwhile, further investigation is underway.

Railway authorities have intensified anti-narcotics surveillance. Moreover, joint efforts between RPF and GRP continue at key stations.

Earlier, security measures were strengthened under initiatives like the station security boost at Tatanagar. Meanwhile, cases such as the Jhajha cash recovery highlighted similar operations.

Incidents involving passenger safety have also surfaced. However, enforcement drives continue to prevent crimes like the train drugging cases and other railway-related offences.

Officials said legal proceedings have begun. Meanwhile, the accused will be forwarded for further action under relevant laws.
