JAMSHEDPUR – Nomination filing closed for three civic bodies with scrutiny and withdrawal dates announced.

The nomination process ended for the 2026 municipal elections on the final filing day. However, the final candidate list will change after scrutiny and withdrawals.

For Mango Municipal Corporation, sixteen candidates filed nominations for the mayoral post. Meanwhile, eleven candidates submitted papers on the final day.

The candidates include Sudha Gupta, Kumkum Srivastava, Jeba Qadri, and Shabana Bano. Others include Shaista Parveen alias Jeba Khan, Banita Sahay, and Raimuni Sundi.

Moreover, Kakoli Mahto, Indira Sundi, Sandhya Singh, and Lucky Singh filed nominations. Parvati Devi, Pratibha Rani, Sushila Singh, Anita Devi, and Sonamuni Soren also contested.

For Jugsalai Municipal Council, ten candidates filed for the chairperson post. Meanwhile, four candidates submitted papers on the final day.

The candidates include Aarti Chaudhary, Jaspreet Kaur, Naushin Khan, and Indu Devi. Others are Niloufer Hussain, Nutan Singh, Dolly Mallik, and Mussarrat Khatun.

Balbir Kaur and Rinku Singh also entered the race. The election is significant for Jugsalai residents.

In Chakulia Nagar Panchayat, four candidates filed nominations for chairperson. They are Sandhya Rani Sardar, Chandana Murmu, Somwari Soren, and Shilawati Tudu.

Scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on February 5. On the other hand, candidates may withdraw nominations on February 6.

The elections follow prolonged delays across urban bodies in Jamshedpur. Meanwhile, the High Court earlier sought action on pending municipal polls through court directions.

Earlier reports highlighted financial losses from delayed elections in Mango and Jugsalai. These concerns were detailed in a delay impact report.

Political parties also announced candidates ahead of the nomination deadline. The BJP named contenders in both bodies as reported earlier.

However, some party leaders later withdrew to maintain unity. This development was reported during campaign consolidation.
