JLKM Leader Pradeep Mahto Leads Dharna as Production Halts Partially at Adityapur Industrial Area
Key Points:
- Hundreds of workers stage protest demanding minimum wage compliance and social security benefits
- Management agrees to reinstate two dismissed workers and form 11-member committee within week
- Workers threaten district-to-state level agitation if demands not met in seven days
ADITYAPUR – Workers at Auto Profile Unit-3 in Seraikela district’s Adityapur industrial area staged a major protest on Wednesday. They demanded compliance with labor laws and social security regulations.
Hundreds of laborers sat on dharna under JLKM Adityapur president Pradeep Mahto’s leadership. The demonstration partially halted production at Unit-3. Workers raised five key demands during the agitation.
The protesters alleged systematic violation of minimum wage act. They claimed social security norms were being ignored for years. The management had reportedly flouted government regulations consistently.
Workers demanded payment as per minimum wage act. They sought provident fund and ESI coverage for all. Moreover, they called for bonus implementation across the workforce.
The demonstrators also demanded ID cards for every worker. They sought annual salary increments as per norms. In addition, they demanded reinstatement of dismissed workers Pradeep Nandi and Puitu Mukhi.
JLKM leader Pradeep Mahto accused the management of ignoring basic worker rights. He stated that production capacity depends on laborers’ hard work. However, they were denied even minimum facilities, he added.
“Management continuously overlooks fundamental worker rights,” a union representative said. “Plant output relies entirely on our efforts and dedication.”
Mahto warned of intensified agitation if demands remain unmet. The protest would escalate significantly, he cautioned. Workers were prepared for prolonged resistance, he added.
Management held talks with JLKM leaders and worker representatives. The meeting resulted in two significant decisions. Both dismissed workers would be reinstated immediately.
An 11-member committee will be formed within one week. The panel will examine all worker demands thoroughly. It will prepare a comprehensive report on every issue.
JLKM leader Prem Mardi appealed for worker restraint. Final decisions would follow committee formation, he assured. All issues would be resolved through proper channels.
Workers returned to their respective shifts after negotiations. Unit activities gradually resumed normal operations. Production slowly picked up pace at the facility.
However, laborers issued a stern warning to management. They demanded concrete decisions within seven days. Otherwise, the movement would expand from district to state level.
The protest highlighted ongoing labor rights violations in Jamshedpur‘s industrial areas. Worker safety concerns have increased across factories recently. Meanwhile, wage payment disputes continue affecting multiple industrial units.
