JAMSHEDPUR – Govindpur police dismantled a brown sugar trafficking network on Saturday. Officers arrested four young men with substantial contraband quantities.
The accused include Gaurav Kumar alias Amar from Shesh Nagar. Imran hails from Burma Mines Muslim Basti. Jammuvan Mahato belongs to Kapali in Seraikela-Kharsawan district.
Lakhan Manjhi resides in Tamolia under Kapali OP area. Police seized 81 packets of brown sugar from them. Moreover, authorities confiscated four mobile phones and Rs 2,550 cash.
Investigations revealed the cash came from drug sales. All accused have been sent to judicial custody. However, interrogation continues to uncover more network details.
Govindpur station in-charge provided crucial information about the operation. Police received intelligence about illegal drug transactions near Bagbera station area. The activities were occurring on a jungle road off Naya Road.
A special team was formed following the tip-off. Officers conducted a targeted raid at the location. The four youths were caught red-handed during the operation.
