JAMSHEDPUR – Loyola School, Jamshedpur, welcomed two distinguished international educators — Dr. Maura Mast and Jack Reynolds — as part of their global academic visit to Jesuit institutions worldwide. Their visit aimed to foster collaboration and exchange of best educational practices.

Dr. Mast, a mathematician and anthropologist, made history in 2015 as the first woman and mathematician to serve as Dean of Fordham College at Rose Hill, New York. She continues to contribute to global dialogues combining mathematics, ethics, and social justice.

Meanwhile, Reynolds has worked in architecture, psychology, and education. His contributions include service at Boston’s largest men’s homeless shelter and extensive engagement with peace and labour movements.

The couple addressed Std XI students in an interactive session exploring connections between mathematics, neuroscience, economics, and education. Reynolds encouraged students to balance material success with spiritual well-being, citing the values of compassion and empathy.

Rev. Fr. Vinod Fernandes, Principal of Loyola School, commended the couple for embodying Ignatian ideals. He highlighted that education rooted in reflection and service shapes individuals committed to the betterment of society.

The visit resonated deeply within the Loyola community, aligning with the school’s mission of forming “men and women for others” through wisdom and faith.

Earlier, the school had organized initiatives such as the Children’s Day celebration and Safety Workshop, reaffirming its commitment to holistic learning. The Greenovation 2024 win further underscored the school’s focus on sustainability and student engagement.
