Telugu Community Celebrates Andhra Pradesh Formation Day

JAMSHEDPUR – The All Jharkhand Telugu Samajam celebrated Andhra Pradesh Formation Day at its Kadma office, commemorating the state’s creation on November 1, 1953.

President Y Ishwar Rao inaugurated the event by lighting a lamp. He paid floral tributes to mark the occasion.

Rao recalled Potti Sriramulu’s historic sacrifice for the cause. The freedom fighter had begun an indefinite fast on October 19, 1952. His demand was a separate Andhra Pradesh state.

Sriramulu died on the 56th day of his fast. His death compelled Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru to announce the state’s formation. The announcement came in Parliament on November 1, 1953.

The president urged Telugu residents to follow Sriramulu’s ideals. He emphasized truth, non-violence, patriotism, and social upliftment. Moreover, he called for strengthening the Telugu community globally.

General Secretary L Nageshwar Rao highlighted Andhra Pradesh’s historic significance. It became India’s first linguistically reorganized state. He stressed that Sriramulu’s sacrifice should not be forgotten.

Furthermore, Rao demanded caste-based reservations for Telugu residents in Jharkhand. He said this would ensure equal employment opportunities. The reservations should follow Andhra Pradesh’s model, he added.

Spokesperson Prasad Rao praised Sriramulu’s contribution to Telugu identity. He paid tribute to the freedom fighter’s dedication. Additionally, he announced expansion plans across Jharkhand.

The organization aims to unite all Telugu residents. It will provide a common platform for community development. This initiative will strengthen Telugu presence statewide.

YM Ishwar Rao delivered the vote of thanks. The event concluded with cultural programs.

The celebration was attended by several community leaders. Notable participants included Y Ishwar Rao and YM B Subramanyam. Others present were C S Rao and YL Nageshwar Rao.

Kamal Kumar and S Prasad Rao were also present. Pralad Rao, M Jagdish Rao, and Mohan Rao attended. Janaki Ram, Shekhar Rao, and Pratima Rao participated.

Women members included Mattam Prabhavati and Leelavati. Sangeeta, Rani, and Padma were also among attendees.
