JAMSHEDPUR – A fierce gun battle broke out late at night between police and an accused in Sidhgora area during an operation related to an extortion case involving businessman Hare Ram Singh.
According to reports, police had received a tip-off about the suspect’s location. The team moved in for a raid when accused Gopal, sensing danger, opened fire. However, police retaliated immediately, triggering a brief but intense exchange of bullets.
During the encounter, Gopal sustained a bullet injury in his leg. He was arrested on the spot. Meanwhile, senior officers, including the City SP, DSP, and the Sidhgora Police Station in-charge, were present at the location.
Moreover, weapons and live cartridges were seized from the site. The extortion was reportedly demanded in the name of gangster Prince Khan. Earlier, another accused, Dashrath Shukla, had been arrested in the same case for allegedly sourcing illegal weapons from Pakistan.
In addition, police have intensified search operations for other absconding members of the gang. The incident has sparked panic across the locality. “The situation is under control, and further raids are underway,” said a police source.
