City SP Kumar Shivashish informed on Friday that the intelligence was received by the Senior Superintendent of Police, following which a team led by City DSP Sunil Kumar Choudhary was formed. The team swiftly moved into the area and conducted a raid.
During the operation, four suspects — Rohit Lohar alias Gaud Baba, Shani Singh, Gaurav Goswami, and Himanshu Kumar — were apprehended. Police also recovered weapons and live cartridges from their possession.
According to officials, all four have a prior criminal record and have previously served jail terms in several cases. “They were caught red-handed while discussing a planned criminal act,” said a senior officer.
After initial interrogation, all four accused were sent to judicial custody. The city police have termed the operation a major success in curbing organized crime in the region.
