JAMSHEDPUR – Residents from multiple localities have demanded cleaning and repair of Mohrda Water Tank Chhath Ghat ahead of the festival.

People from Baridih Vijaya Garden, Sristi Garden, Vastu Vihar and Santal Basti raised the demand. They submitted a request letter on Tuesday. The letter was given to the District Deputy Commissioner.

In addition, it was submitted to local BJP MLA Purnima Sahu. Jamshedpur Axis special officer also received the memorandum. The delegation separately met JMM MLA Mangal Kalindi at his office.

The MLA assured the residents about necessary action. “I will instruct the local administration for cleaning,” he said. Moreover, he promised road repair work would be undertaken.

The ghat is located along Subarnarekha river banks. It requires cleaning and development, the memorandum stated. An approximately 800-meter stretch serves as the worship area.

Devotees regularly perform prayers at the site. They also immerse idols in the river throughout the year. However, Chhath is a festival of faith and purity.

The festival places special emphasis on cleanliness. Devotees observe strict hygiene norms during the four-day ritual. Therefore, proper maintenance of ghats becomes essential for worship.

The delegation included several prominent residents. KK Giri, advocate Shrikant Singh and advocate J Goswami were present. Rajen Mudaliar, NK Singh and Pawan Kumar Jha also participated.

Furthermore, Sudhir Singh and Ajay Kumar attended the meeting. They emphasized the need for immediate action before festivities begin.
