JAMSHEDPUR – A woman from Maharashtra was robbed while traveling to Mango from Tatanagar railway station.
She had arrived in the city on September 19 to meet her boyfriend, Shubhankar Rawat. The couple hired a tempo for Mango, but the driver and two other men joined the ride. However, instead of heading toward Mango, the vehicle veered off to the Bhuridih crossing in the Sundernagar area.
There, the suspects allegedly assaulted the couple and took their purse, bag, mobile phone, and cash. The victims later approached Sundernagar police and lodged a complaint on September 20.
According to Sundernagar police station in-charge Ajit Kumar Munda, “The woman from Maharashtra was indeed robbed. The tempo driver, Sachin Mahato, and his associate, Sohan Gop, have been arrested. Another accomplice remains on the run.”
Meanwhile, police said efforts are underway to locate the absconding accused. The arrested duo is being interrogated for possible links to other similar crimes.
