SERAIKELA – Police unearthed a fake liquor factory in Tetlo village under Nimdih, arresting two people with large stocks of illegal English liquor.
The raid was carried out on secret input received by Seraikela SP Mukesh Kumar Lunayat. However, the operation was led by the Chandil Sub-Divisional Police Officer.
Police teams found a mini factory producing counterfeit English liquor. Meanwhile, the unit was preparing liquor to meet festive demand.
Two men, Niranjan Gorai and Prakash Kumar Gupta, were caught red-handed. In addition, equipment used for liquor production was also recovered from the site.
The accused admitted during questioning that the liquor was meant for supply in Nimdih and Chandil areas during Durga Puja. Moreover, they confessed that the demand spike had motivated the production.
A case was registered under Nimdih police station case number 53/2025. Besides, police said raids were continuing to arrest other suspects linked to the network.
Meanwhile, the Superintendent of Police urged residents to inform police about any such illegal activity. “Citizens must alert police quickly if they find liquor being made or sold illegally,” a police appeal stated.
