DEOGHAR – The mortal remains of Agniveer martyr Neeraj Chaudhary reached his ancestral village Kajra in Deoghar district around noon.
His body was brought from Seva to Kajra. Indian Army personnel paid their final salute before a tricolor-wrapped procession moved through the village. Thousands of citizens came from across Deoghar to pay homage. Local leaders and social workers also joined the funeral rites.
Meanwhile, the coffin was carried to the nearby cremation ghat with a large convoy. There, Chaudhary was given his final farewell. Residents chanted patriotic slogans and hailed him as a brave son of the soil.
Earlier, the body had been flown from Siachen, where he lost his life in a glacier accident. From Seva, it was first taken to Ranchi, where the Chief Minister and others paid tribute. Later, the coffin was moved to Hazaribagh camp before reaching Kajra today.
A resident present at the ceremony said, “The entire village feels proud yet deeply saddened. He sacrificed his life in service to the nation.”
