Professional Development Workshop Held for First-Year Students

Experts Share Insights on Wellness, Compliance, Careers and Taxation

JAMSHEDPUR – A professional development and skills workshop was held for first-year students of all departments from August 25 to August 29, 2025. The week-long program was organized by the Department of Soft Skills.

The sessions featured a wide range of topics delivered by experts. Lt. Col Sangeeta Sinha spoke on positive attitude, wellness and the balance between mental and physical health. On the other hand, Shikha Bhatnagar drew lessons on discipline, leadership and teamwork from her experiences with the armed forces.

Meanwhile, corporate and academic perspectives were also shared. Ms. Debaleena Karmakar, Company Secretary and Compliance Officer at Kross Limited, discussed corporate governance and compliance requirements. Sandeep Kumar, an academician and mentor with Career Launcher, addressed career planning and skill enhancement strategies.

Besides, CA Manish Agarwal from Ernst & Young conducted a session on corporate taxation and FEMA. His talk provided students with valuable industry insights and practical knowledge.

The workshop was supported by leading professional associations including the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), the Jamshedpur Management Association (JMA), and Career Launcher.

University authorities extended full support. Both Registrar and Vice Chancellor encouraged the initiative. Deans and Heads of Departments also played a role in making the event successful. A source from the organizing team said, “Such workshops help bridge the gap between academics and industry.”
