JAMSHEDPUR – Kadma police achieved a breakthrough by dismantling an organized auto theft racket in the city. The operation led to the arrest of three active members identified as Mohammad Rais, Saukat Ali, and Mohammad Asgar alias Lariya.
The case originated from a complaint filed by Gadi Mohammad Need. In response to a rise in auto theft cases across the district, a special team was formed under the leadership of DSP Headquarters-2. Acting on intelligence, the team conducted a raid in the Kapali area on August 20.
During the raid, police seized a stolen auto, 16 number plates, engine parts, fake RC cards, a cutter machine, and other tools from Mohammad Rais’s residence. On his disclosure, three more stolen autos were recovered.
Interrogation revealed that the gang delivered stolen autos to Rais. He altered vehicle parts, repainted them, and prepared fake documents before selling them for ₹70,000–80,000. Based on this information, police also arrested two other gang members with stolen autos in their possession.
City SP confirmed that all three accused have criminal records, with several auto theft cases registered against them in different police stations. The operation is expected to significantly curb vehicle theft incidents in the district.
