JAMSHEDPUR – The Aam Aadmi Party’s Jamshedpur metropolitan unit organized a signature campaign on Sunday demanding installation of a statue of freedom fighter Chandrashekhar Azad in the city.
The programme, led by AAP leader Abhishek Kumar, was held at the New Baridih roundabout from 4 PM. Hundreds of party workers joined the event, along with thousands of local residents.
Organisers pointed out that Jamshedpur does not have a single statue of Chandrashekhar Azad despite being a major city. They termed this absence unfortunate.
During the campaign, residents were urged to attend and contribute to what was described as a cause in the national interest. Locals responded enthusiastically to the appeal.
Party leaders said that the collected signatures will be submitted to push for the construction and unveiling of the statue at the earliest possible date.
