Former CM Slams Administration Over Land, Language and Infiltration Issues

Key Points:

  • World Tribal Day marked with cultural program at Ramchandrapur ground
  • Champai Soren accuses state govt of betraying tribals and natives
  • Pledges protests against land acquisition in Nagri and other areas

JAMSHEDPUR – A colourful cultural program was held at Ramchandrapur football ground on Saturday to mark World Tribal Day, organised by the World Tribal Savta Susar Akhara.

Former Chief Minister and local MLA Champai Soren attended as chief guest, alongside former Ghatshila candidate and BJP leader Babulal Soren, Seraikela-Kharsawan Zilla Parishad chairman Sonaram Bodra, Soren’s elder son Simal Soren, younger son Bablu Nath Soren, and district coordinator Ramdas Tudu.

Before the program, Champai Soren paid floral tribute to tribal martyrs. He extended greetings for World Tribal Day and recalled the long history of tribal movements, noting that Jharkhand was formed due to such struggles.

However, he accused the state government of deceiving tribals and natives, criticising the renaming of Atal Clinic to Mother Teresa Clinic. He also attacked the government over alleged Bangladeshi infiltration from Santhal Pargana to Chakulia, and over land issues.

Soren alleged that builders are grabbing tribal land by violating CNT/SPT Acts. He opposed the land acquisition at Nagri for RIMS-2, declaring he would lead a plough protest there on August 24. “If the government has strength, let it stop us,” he said.

He also announced a gathering of five lakh tribals at Bhognadih on August 22, warning the government against altering Santhal Pargana’s demography. Other speakers included Sonaram Bodra, Babulal Soren and Ramdas Tudu. A two-minute silence was observed in memory of late former CM Shibu Soren.
