JAMSHEDPUR – Lions Club of Jamshedpur Bharti conducted a comprehensive maternal nutrition awareness program for female sanitation workers, distributing essential health items to over 50 participants.
Lions Club of Jamshedpur Bharti organized an awareness session during Maternal Nutrition and Child Care Week. The event targeted female sanitation workers across the city. Moreover, participants received nutritional supplements and hygiene products.
District Women Empowerment Chairperson Sarika Singh served as chief guest. Additionally, Zone Chairperson MJF Lion Bharat Singh attended as distinguished guest. However, the program commenced with traditional welcome ceremonies.
Club President Lion Anjula Singh welcomed the guests with flower bouquets. Furthermore, she thanked all members for their participation. In contrast, the focus remained on health education for working mothers.
Chief guest Sarika Singh addressed 50 female sanitation workers about health consciousness. She advised them to consume nutritious food regularly. Meanwhile, she emphasized the dual responsibilities of working mothers.
“You all are mothers and workers who care for others,” Singh told the gathering. However, she highlighted their tendency to neglect personal health. On the other hand, maintaining maternal health remains crucial for child welfare.
Zone Chairperson Bharat Singh appreciated the sanitation workers’ contributions to society. He thanked them for maintaining city cleanliness standards. Moreover, he acknowledged their indirect role in public health maintenance.
The distribution included jaggery, chickpeas, soy chunks, Dettol soap and Horlicks. These items aimed to supplement their nutritional requirements. Furthermore, the selection focused on affordable yet effective health products.
Club members Manoj Soni, Rajesh Singh, Jyoti Singh, Rajesh Shrivastava and Sandeep Singh participated. Additionally, they assisted in organizing the distribution process. However, the program maintained its educational focus throughout.
A day earlier, member Jyoti Singh conducted another session in Sitaramdera. She educated over 50 new mothers about breastfeeding importance. Meanwhile, she provided information on proper nutrition and child care practices.
The program forms part of Lions Club’s ongoing community service initiatives. It specifically addresses maternal health challenges among working women. Moreover, it demonstrates the organization’s commitment to women’s welfare programs.
Lions Club International has been conducting similar health awareness programs globally. In India, the organization focuses on maternal and child health issues. Furthermore, these initiatives target underserved communities across urban areas.
Female sanitation workers face unique health challenges due to occupational hazards. They often lack access to proper healthcare facilities. However, community organizations like Lions Club bridge this gap through targeted interventions.
