55 Farmers Receive Pigeon Pea Minikits at Gurma Village

JAMSHEDPUR – District Agriculture Officer Vivek Birua distributed pigeon pea minikits to 55 farmers at Gurma village in Badabanki panchayat on Wednesday.

The seed distribution ceremony took place in Jamshedpur block under government supervision. Panchayat head Rakesh Murmu attended the event alongside technical officials. Moreover, Block Technical Manager Prabhir Kumar and Assistant Technical Manager Laxmi Soren participated actively.

A significant number of farmers gathered for the distribution program. Each minikit contains 4 kilograms of pigeon pea seeds. However, the government provides these seeds with 100 percent subsidy support.

The Jamshedpur block has received allocation for 130 total minikits. Farmer selection has been completed for the entire program. Besides, remaining beneficiaries will receive their minikits soon.

District Agriculture Officer Birua explained the program’s scope during the event. The distribution falls under ATMA’s National Food Security and Nutrition Mission. Furthermore, the initiative aims to enhance local agricultural productivity.

The district plans to distribute 2250 minikits across all 11 blocks. Each block has received specific targets for implementation. On the other hand, coordinated efforts ensure systematic coverage.

Agricultural officials emphasize the program’s role in food security enhancement. The pigeon pea cultivation initiative supports farmers’ income generation. Moreover, subsidized seeds reduce input costs for participating cultivators.
