Railway GM Inspects Stations and Addresses Encroachment Issues

Railway GM and Jamshedpur MP Inspect Key Railway Stations

Inspection included Tata Nagar, Badam Pahar, and Adityapur; encroachment issues discussed with assurance of further action by GM Anil Kumar Mishra.

Key Points:

  • Inspection of Tata Nagar, Badam Pahar, and Adityapur stations.
  • Demands by MP Vidyut Varun Mahato partially fulfilled.
  • Encroachment notice given to 400 homes under review.

JAMSHEDPUR – General Manager (GM) of Railways, Anil Kumar Mishra, and Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahato conducted an inspection of several railway stations, including Chakulia, Tata Nagar, and Badam Pahar, to review ongoing development works. They were accompanied by senior railway officials.

During the inspection, operations at the newly constructed platforms 1 and 2 of Adityapur station (details here) were initiated. The team also inspected the third rail line and discussed pending projects. GM Mishra assured that most demands raised by MP Mahato (advocacy efforts) had been addressed. He added that the construction of a railway crossing and completion of foot overbridge and road work at Govindpur halt will be expedited.

Encroachment Concerns

Residents of Jharkhand Nagar near the railway station submitted a petition to GM Mishra, requesting a halt to the eviction drive until February, citing upcoming student exams. The railway had earlier issued notices to vacate 400 homes by January 31. Responding to the concerns, Mishra assured residents that discussions with the state government would determine the next steps.

Local Perspectives

Saraswati Devi, the Mukhiya of Ghaghidih Panchayat, highlighted the impact of the encroachment drive on families and requested that no action be taken during examination periods. “Our children’s future should not be jeopardized. We hope the railway considers this request,” she stated.

Future Developments

Addressing other infrastructure projects, GM Mishra confirmed that foot overbridges, roads, and pending crossing work (station upgrades) would be prioritized. He reiterated the railway’s commitment to working collaboratively with the state government to resolve encroachment issues in accordance with the law.
