GAMHARIA – A massive fire broke out late Friday night at the vegetable market operated by Adityapur Municipal Corporation in Gamharia, reducing over 20 shops to ashes. Local residents alerted the vendors, but by the time they reached the spot, most shops had been destroyed.
Vendors Left to Control the Blaze
Shopkeepers reported that the fire department and police arrived late and only completed formalities without offering substantial help. Vendors were forced to extinguish the fire themselves after significant damage had already been done. The shops contained vegetables and goods that were completely destroyed.

The cause of the fire remains unknown. A former councillor criticized the municipal corporation for collecting daily fees while providing inadequate infrastructure. They demanded tin sheds for the vendors to prevent future incidents and ensure safety.
