CHAKULIA – A 10 km marathon was organized at the Dak Bungalow campus in Chakulia as part of the Goonj Festival’s third day. The race was flagged off by Rural SP Rishabh Garg, who also joined participants for a short distance to motivate them. Bablu Tudu from Nagadih, Jamshedpur emerged as the winner, followed by Tarak Mandi from Silda, Bengal, and Raj Purti from Benasholi, Ghatshila, in second and third place, respectively.
Event Celebrates 20 Years of the Goonj Festival
The Goonj Festival, commemorating Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, has been running successfully for 20 years. SP Rishabh Garg praised the event, emphasizing its role in encouraging sportsmanship and resilience among youth. He encouraged participants to learn from challenges and strive for success, adding that such activities benefit all areas of life.

Local MLA Sameer Mohanty highlighted the festival’s mission to nurture rural talent through various competitions. To ensure participants’ safety, the health department conducted thorough check-ups before the marathon began. The top 10 finishers were felicitated in a special ceremony by the event’s dignitaries.
