RANCHI – In a significant development, the Supreme Court refused to grant bail to Mustakim Ansari, one of the primary accused in the murder of Rubika Pahadi. The decision was delivered on Thursday by a bench comprising Justice Bela M. Trivedi and Justice Satish Chandra, dismissing Ansari’s plea. Earlier, his bail applications were also rejected by the lower court and the High Court.

Rubika Pahadi, a 25-year-old resident of Gora Pahad in Sahibganj, was murdered on December 17, 2023. In a chilling attempt to conceal evidence, her body was dismembered into 20 pieces, with 18 of them recovered by the police from various locations. The case unraveled when a human limb was discovered near an Anganwadi center in Borio Santhali, leading to a broader investigation.

Multiple Arrests and Key Details

Police have arrested 14 individuals in connection with the crime, including Rubika’s husband Dildar Ansari, his father Mustakim Ansari, and several other family members. According to the investigation, Dildar had married Rubika despite already being married, leading to family resentment. It was revealed that the murder was orchestrated for ₹20,000, and Dildar’s uncle, Mainul, played a pivotal role. Mainul was later arrested from Delhi.

Gruesome Crime Shocks Community

The dismembered body parts were initially discovered near an abandoned house in Borio, deepening the gravity of the case. Police confirmed that Rubika’s murder was a result of a domestic conflict and financial transaction. Former Borio police officer Jagannath Pan shared that the case involved 14 suspects, of whom 11 were arrested immediately, while the rest were apprehended later.

Ongoing Investigation

The Sahibganj murder case has garnered widespread attention due to its brutality. While some co-accused have been granted conditional bail by the High Court, Mustakim Ansari remains in custody, facing serious charges.
