JAMSHEDPUR – A raid led by SDO Shatabdi Majumdar revealed violations of the ban on selling tobacco near schools in Sakchi.
The investigation found that five shops near Shardamani School and Rajasthan Vidya Mandir were selling tobacco products within the restricted 100-yard radius. These shops were penalized ₹1,000 each, and their stock was confiscated.
Persistent Violation Despite Ban
During the raid at Sakchi’s Aam Bagan, tea stalls were inspected, exposing the sale of gutka and other narcotics. The SDO confiscated the items and issued warnings. Shatabdi Majumdar emphasized that selling tobacco products near schools is prohibited and carries severe penalties.
Officials Promise Strict Action
Executive Magistrate Chandrajeet Singh and Food Safety Officer Manzar Hussain accompanied the SDO. The team cautioned shopkeepers about the repercussions of repeated violations, including higher fines and legal actions.
