Farmers Protest Against Centre’s New Agriculture Policy in Chandil

AIKKMS Members Burn Policy Draft, Demand Protection of Farmers’ Rights

Key Points:

  • Mass protests erupt in Rudia, Darda and Chainpur villages against farm policy
  • Farmers fear new policy will benefit industrialists at their expense
  • Protestors draw parallels with previous successful farm law protests

CHANDIL – The All India Kisan Khet Mazdoor Sangathan (AIKKMS) staged demonstrations across multiple villages against the central government’s proposed agriculture policy.

Members expressed strong opposition through slogans and protests. The organization accused the government of favoring corporate interests over farmers’ welfare.

Policy Concerns

SUCI representatives criticized the Modi government’s approach. “This policy will weaken farmers’ rights,” a protest leader stated.

Moreover, demonstrators argued that the new laws would primarily benefit large industrialists. Furthermore, they expressed concerns about fair pricing mechanisms.

Historical Context

The protests drew parallels with previous farm law agitations. Additionally, farmers recalled their successful campaign that led to the withdrawal of earlier laws.

Meanwhile, protestors symbolically burned copies of the draft policy. In addition, they demanded comprehensive protection of farmers’ interests.

Community Mobilization

Notable participation came from local farming communities. Previously inactive villagers also joined the demonstrations.

“We will continue our struggle until our demands are met,” emphasized a senior AIKKMS member. Local leaders Rajkishore Karmakar and Budhu Layak led the protests.
