RANCHI – The Jharkhand government has announced the closure of schools for classes from kindergarten to Class 8 across the state until January 13, 2025, in light of severe cold conditions.

The directive affects all categories of schools, including government-run, aided, and private institutions.

During the closure, teachers in government and aided schools, including those in primary and upper primary sections, are required to report to work and carry out their academic and administrative responsibilities as usual.

The government has emphasized completing tasks related to updating student data under schemes like UDISE+ and APAAR ID generation for the academic year 2024–2025.

The closure, ordered on January 4, 2025, specifies that while classes will remain suspended, schools must continue administrative activities, such as APAAR ID Generation, household surveys and data collection.
