JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Steel’s Meramandali Plant has initiated an Internal Talent Bank to utilize employees more effectively, aiming for mutual growth for workers and the company.
Addressing Employee Concerns
During the MD Online program, employees expressed concerns about the Talent Bank. Rakesh Kumar Jha highlighted the prevailing anxiety among Meramandali workers. VP HRM Atrai Sanyal clarified, “The Talent Bank isn’t a reflection of an employee’s capabilities. It’s a restructuring effort allowing flexibility and growth.”
Talent Bank’s Functionality
Currently, 21 employees are part of the Talent Bank. Workers are assigned projects based on need and can also opt for internal vacancies. Sanyal reassured employees, “This policy will continue, and there’s no need to worry about the future.”
Strategic Measures for Cost Management
MD TV Narendran emphasized the importance of reducing internal costs amid current challenges. He stated, “Preserving efficiency is crucial during these times.”
Employee Engagement Initiatives
Suggestions for a nationwide Tata Steel Sports Festival were made by Arvind Prakash Nayak from Joda. Responding, Chanakya Choudhary, VP CS, encouraged employees to share ideas with the Sports Department. Meanwhile, union leader Ramesh Behera requested a visit to Joda, to which the MD assured planning soon.
