MEDININAGAR – In a tragic incident, the body of 24-year-old Priya Dubey, a pregnant woman, was discovered hanging in Nimia Bairiya under City Police Station jurisdiction on Friday morning. Police retrieved the body and conducted a post-mortem at MMCH.
Priya, daughter of Arun Dubey from Kokarsa village in Padwa Police Station area, was married in April 2024 to Manikant Tiwari, son of Arun Tiwari of Nimia Bairiya. Her father has accused her in-laws of harassment and murder over dowry demands.
Allegations of Harassment and Murder
According to Arun Dubey, his daughter faced continuous abuse from her in-laws despite adequate dowry given during the marriage. “They often assaulted her and demanded more,” he stated. On Thursday night, Priya was reportedly beaten, and by Friday morning, her body was found hanging.
FIR Filed Against Six
Arun Dubey filed an FIR against six individuals from the in-laws’ family, alleging that they murdered Priya and staged it as a suicide. Acting swiftly, police arrested three suspects, including her husband, Manikant Tiwari, and father-in-law, Arun Tiwari. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining accused.
Investigation Underway
The case has raised serious concerns over dowry-related violence in the area. Authorities assured that the investigation would be thorough and all culprits would be brought to justice.
