JAMSHEDPUR – A male tiger has been confirmed in Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary, marking the second big cat appearance in the region.

District Forest Officer Saba Alam has verified the tiger’s presence. The confirmation came after a recent predation incident.

Moreover, a local youth spotted the big cat near the kill site. The tiger has successfully avoided the installed camera traps.

Recent Tiger Movement

This sighting follows Zeenat’s earlier appearance in Chakulia. Meanwhile, the tigress had traveled from Odisha’s Similipal Reserve.

Furthermore, Dalma hasn’t had resident tigers for decades. However, the sanctuary provides suitable habitat for big cats.

Safety Measures

The forest department has heightened surveillance in the area. Additionally, they have alerted nearby villages about the tiger’s presence.

“We are monitoring the situation closely,” stated a wildlife expert. Besides, the department has established a special response team.

Historical Context

Dalma’s last recorded tiger sighting was in 1989. Moreover, the sanctuary spans over 192 square kilometers.

In addition, the reserve hosts various wildlife species. The sanctuary serves as a crucial wildlife corridor in eastern India.
