MEDININAGAR – A speeding car claimed two lives and left two others critically injured when it plowed into a group of villagers in Palamu district on Thursday night.
The tragic incident occurred around 9:30 PM near Sabnawa village. A group of residents were warming themselves by a bonfire on the Japla-Mohammadganj main road.
Meanwhile, an out-of-control car veered off the road and crashed into them. The vehicle then plunged into a nearby ditch.
“The impact was devastating,” said a local witness. “Everything happened so quickly that people had no time to react.”
Victims and Aftermath
The crash claimed the lives of Arshad Khan, 20, and Asif Khan, 21, at the scene. Moreover, Jahangir Khan and Hasnain Khan sustained severe injuries.
On the other hand, the driver fled immediately after the accident. However, angry villagers caught and assaulted another occupant of the vehicle.
Police Investigation
Station Officer Mukesh Singh arrived promptly to control the situation. Additionally, he assured the protesters of swift action against those responsible.
Meanwhile, the bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination. Furthermore, the injured are receiving treatment at the Hussainabad sub-divisional hospital.
“We are investigating all aspects of this tragic incident,” stated a police official. Moreover, doctors have described the condition of both injured victims as critical.
