SERAIKELA – Five suspects have been arrested for the murder of Sonu Sardar, district para-teachers’ association president, in Gamharia.
SP Mukesh Kumar Lunayat revealed details of the breakthrough at a press conference. The police recovered several weapons from the accused.
Key Arrests and Recovery
“The arrested individuals include notorious criminal Ashish Gorai and four others,” said a senior police official.
Two pistols and live ammunition were recovered from the accused. The police also seized three motorcycles used in the crime.
Hunt for Mastermind
Birbal Sardar, identified as the mastermind, remains at large. Another suspect is also evading arrest.
Meanwhile, the victim was also the husband of Parvati Sardar, Mukhiya of Yashpur Panchayat.
Investigation Details
SDPO Sameer Sawaia led the special investigation team. They used technical and human intelligence to solve the case.
The victim was shot dead while returning from an event last Friday. Personal enmity reportedly motivated the crime.
On the other hand, preliminary investigation suggests links to illegal business activities. The victim had opposed such operations.
