Illegal Opium Farms Razed in Chouka During Second Phase of Operation

Seraikela – The Seraikela police launched the second phase of their anti-drug campaign on Tuesday, targeting illegal opium cultivation across the district.

Led by the Chandil Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) and Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), authorities destroyed illegal poppy fields in the Chouka police station area.

Action in Chouka Police Station Area

Police teams, along with SSB personnel from Matkamhdi under the leadership of Company Commander, conducted the operation. They identified and destroyed approximately five acres of opium fields situated in the forested areas between Gutiuli and Lapaibeda villages. Tractors were used to raze the illicit crops completely.

Prior to this, local police had campaigned across the district, urging farmers to abandon drug cultivation and switch to traditional farming. This initiative aims to curb drug trafficking and illegal cultivation activities in the region.

Strict Warnings Issued

Authorities emphasized their commitment to eradicating illegal drug farming. A senior police official warned that individuals involved in such activities will face stringent legal consequences. The administration vowed to continue such operations to tackle drug cultivation and trafficking in the district.
