JAMSHEDPUR – The National Archery Championship commenced at Jamshedpur’s Gopal Maidan on Monday, with over 900 players competing for top honors.

The championship, running until December 20, features events in three categories: recurve, compound, and Indian round. A total of 42 units from across the country are participating in this prestigious tournament.

Several renowned medal-winning archers are also taking part, enhancing the level of competition. Officials confirmed that the top 8 teams emerging from this event will qualify for the National Games, scheduled for February. A total of 64 players will represent these teams in the upcoming games.

The tournament is significant as it serves as a gateway for selection into the National Games. Jamshedpur, often regarded as a hub for archery, has previously hosted numerous national-level events, showcasing its world-class infrastructure and facilities for the sport.

Sports enthusiasts and archery fans are eagerly following the competition, as it features some of India’s top archers. The event also aims to promote grassroots talent and bring emerging players into the national spotlight.
