Focus on Spreading Legal Awareness and Government Welfare Schemes

Key Points:

  • Camp organized by District Legal Services Authority at Sadar Block Office
  • Judge Akhilesh Kumar highlights legal empowerment for weaker sections
  • Focus on free legal aid, welfare schemes, and combating social evils

MEDININAGAR – The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) organized a district-level legal empowerment camp on Saturday at the Sadar Block Office campus in Palamu. The camp aimed to raise awareness about government welfare schemes and free legal services among the underprivileged sections of society.

Purpose of the Legal Empowerment Camp

The program was chaired by Akhilesh Kumar, District and Additional Sessions Judge II, who underscored the importance of empowering marginalized and vulnerable groups. He emphasized that the primary goal of such camps is to connect people with government welfare schemes and legal aid services.

Akhilesh Kumar stated, “Legal empowerment camps help ensure that disadvantaged sections of society access their rights and government benefits. Until people are aware of their rights, they will remain deprived of essential services.” He also urged the need to combat superstitions like witchcraft (Daain Bisahi), which are prevalent in rural areas.

Legal Awareness and Assistance

Civil Judge Sanjay Singh Yadav provided detailed legal knowledge on critical issues like child marriage, domestic violence, and witchcraft-related superstitions. He encouraged villagers to utilize legal aid clinics set up at the panchayat level to gain awareness about their rights and duties.

Deputy Chief of the Legal Aid Defense Council Santosh Kumar Pandey highlighted the importance of these camps in educating citizens about legal processes and accessing free legal assistance.

Government Schemes and Benefits Distributed

The camp also served as a platform for distributing welfare benefits, including:

  • Approval letters for housing schemes (Abua Awas, PM Awas Yojana)
  • Loans for women self-help groups
  • Blankets, dhotis, sarees, seeds, and medicines
  • Bicycles for school children and pension approvals

Presence of Officials and Villagers

The event saw active participation from judicial officers, government officials, and villagers. Key attendees included:

  • Civil Judges: Ayesha Khan, Sweta Dhingra, Shankar Maharaj, Nishikant, Paramanand Upadhyay, Kamal Prakash, Ritu Kujur, Rozalina Bara, and Amit Aakash Sinha
  • Administrative Officials: Sadar BDO Jago Mahato and Sadar CO Amarjeet Singh Balhotra
  • PLV Vinay Prasad

The legal empowerment camp successfully connected a large number of rural participants with essential legal knowledge and government schemes, empowering them to claim their rights and benefits effectively.
