Students Accuse Administration of Shielding Perpetrators at Central University
Key Points:
- BA B.Ed student reports recent molestation and attempted rape incident
- Multiple harassment cases remain unaddressed, sparking student outrage
- Protesters demand immediate action against accused with criminal history
RANCHI – Widespread protests erupt at Central University of Jharkhand following multiple sexual harassment cases and administrative inaction.
A BA B.Ed student recently faced assault. She alerted university officials through email. The perpetrators allegedly study at CUJ.
Moreover, the accused have previous criminal records. “Campus safety is non-existent,” reports a student representative.
Meanwhile, students have launched a sit-in protest. They demand immediate administrative action.
Furthermore, the Chemistry department reported another incident recently. Similar cases keep surfacing at regular intervals.
In addition, CUJ lacks proper security infrastructure. The 250-acre campus has insufficient CCTV coverage.
“Female students feel unsafe even during daytime,” states a protest organizer.
On the other hand, security personnel are undertrained. Only 15 guards monitor the entire campus.
Besides, the university has no Women’s Safety Committee. Most harassment cases go unreported.
Meanwhile, the National Commission for Women has noted this issue. They might investigate these incidents.
“We need a complete security overhaul,” emphasizes a student leader.
