NIT Jamshedpur NSS Unit Organizes Clothing Drive and Awareness Campaign

JAMSHEDPUR – The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of NIT Jamshedpur organized a clothing distribution and awareness campaign on Sunday, integrating community service with educational outreach.
Phase One: Sitarampur Dam
The campaign, led by NSS Program Coordinator Dr. Jayendra Kumar, began at Vasco Nagar near Sitarampur Dam. Guided by team members like NSS President Satyam Shukla, Vice President Indranil Chatterjee, Media Head Abhishek Kumar, and PG Representative Arti Sharma, a group of 40 volunteers distributed clothes to men, women, and children.
In addition to the distribution, awareness sessions were held on topics such as education, anti-corruption measures, cyber safety, environmental conservation, and social justice. “We aim to empower communities through knowledge,” said volunteer Rohit Shukla. The initiative also included distributing snacks and sweets to children, further spreading joy.
Phase Two: RIT Thana Grounds
The second phase of the drive took place near the campus at RIT Thana Grounds, benefiting over 200 families with clothing assistance. Volunteers emphasized the importance of youth in nation-building and committed to organizing such drives regularly.
NSS holds such events twice annually to promote social welfare and awareness. This campaign highlighted the importance of combining service with education to foster community growth and development.
