RANCHI – Following today’s oath taking and formation of Jharkhand’s Hemant Soren-led government, Chief Minister Hemant Soren convened the inaugural cabinet meeting.

In the absence of appointed cabinet ministers, Soren presided over the session solo, resulting in seven pivotal decisions.

A significant appointment from the meeting is that of senior Jharkhand Mukti Morcha leader Stephen Marandi as the Pro-tem Speaker.

Marandi is set to oversee the assembly proceedings until the election of a permanent Speaker.

The assembly session is scheduled to commence on December 9 and will span two days.

In a move to bolster women’s welfare, the cabinet has expedited the implementation of the Mayiya Samman Yojana.

This scheme aims to provide a financial assistance of ₹2,500 to eligible women, with directives issued to accelerate its rollout.

Addressing labor concerns, the government has decided to form a committee dedicated to assessing the conditions of Jharkhand’s laborers in Assam.

This initiative underscores the administration’s commitment to the welfare of its migrant workforce.

On the fiscal front, Chief Minister Soren has instructed state officials to pursue legal avenues to secure ₹1.36 lakh crore from the central government.

This substantial amount is deemed crucial for the state’s developmental projects.

In the realm of public service recruitment, directives have been issued to the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) to release their annual examination calendars by January 1, 2025.

This measure aims to streamline recruitment processes and provide clarity to aspirants.

Honoring the sacrifice of Agniveer martyr Arjun Mahato, who was killed in action during a skirmish in Assam on November 22, the government has extended support to his family.

A cheque of ₹10 lakh has been presented to his mother, Jhoolsi Devi, and a job appointment letter has been handed to his brother, Balram Mahato.

Additionally, the cabinet has called for a review of the circumstances surrounding the death that occurred during the recruitment of excise constables, indicating a commitment to transparency and accountability in recruitment processes.
