CHAIBASA – In a shocking incident, Maoists reportedly killed two individuals and kidnapped two others in Giru village, a Maoist-affected area in Chaibasa’s Gudri block, late last night. The victims are alleged to have been supporters of the PLFI and involved in illegal sand mining.
Police Superintendent Ashutosh Shekhar confirmed the killings and stated that a police team has been dispatched to the site. "The remote location and lack of network connectivity have hindered communication with the team," he said, adding that the situation will become clear after their return.
Sources suggest that the victims, including one Ravi Pan, were targeted as Maoists demanded a share in the illegal sand business. The ongoing rivalry over illegal trade is suspected to be the motive behind the attack.
This incident underlines the persistent challenges in combating Maoist activities in the region. Authorities are expected to intensify their operations in the area to restore peace and security.
