JAMSHEDPUR – In a late-night theft, unidentified thieves broke into the Shiv Mandir on Road No. 5 in Bagbera, stealing an estimated ₹10,000 from the donation box.

Temple committee chairman Sunil Tiwari lodged a complaint with the Bagbera police.

According to Raman Khan, the temple committee secretary, the culprits entered through the rear of the temple premises.

The thieves removed the donation box, broke its lock, and stole cash and coins inside.

The empty box was abandoned nearby, found on bricks by devotees and the temple priest the following morning.

Raman Khan noted that the donation box had not been opened for months, even during festivals that drew large crowds of devotees, contributing significantly to the funds.

Currently, a hall is under construction on the temple premises, raising concerns about security vulnerabilities.

Police are investigating the incident, and security measures at the temple are likely to be strengthened.
