RANCHI – The second phase of Jharkhand Assembly elections scheduled for November 20 has attracted attention for featuring 127 crorepati candidates among 528 contestants.
SP candidate Aqeel Akhtar from Pakur leads the wealth rankings.
Moreover, independent candidate Niranjan Rai from Dhanwar holds assets worth Rs 131 crore.
Meanwhile, BJP’s Ganganarayan Singh from Madhupur has declared Rs 15.61 crore in assets.
Furthermore, JMM candidate Kalpana Soren from Gandey possesses assets valued at Rs 19.18 crore.
In contrast, three candidates have declared minimal assets, with Independent Rajendra Mahato claiming just Rs 100.
Additionally, 42 candidates have reported assets exceeding Rs 5 crore.
However, 136 candidates possess assets below Rs 10 lakh.
The election has also highlighted concerns about criminal backgrounds.
Notably, various political parties have fielded candidates facing legal charges.
On the other hand, 122 candidates are dealing with serious criminal cases.
