JAMSHEDPUR – Jharkhand’s first phase of Assembly elections continued smoothly, with voter turnout reaching an estimated 59.28% by 3 p.m., according to data from the Election Commission. 

In East Singhbhum, which includes the city of Jamshedpur, turnout was reported at 58.72%, with some constituencies in the region drawing significant voter participation.

Baharagora constituency led East Singhbhum with a notable 70.10% turnout, while Ghatsila also saw high engagement, reaching 69.44%.

Jugsalai and Potka recorded turnouts of 62.98% and 61.12%, respectively, demonstrating solid participation.

In neighboring districts, the Seraikella-Kharsawan district showed a robust turnout of 66.38%, with the Kharaswan constituency leading the district at 69.77%.

West Singhbhum followed with 60.35% turnout, supported by high voting percentages in Majhgaon and Chaibasa at 62.51% and 60.51%, respectively.

Meanwhile, Palamu district recorded 56.57% turnout, with Daltonganj leading at 56.93%.An election official commented, “The peaceful polling environment has helped boost turnout across constituencies.”

As Jharkhand’s polling progresses, turnout figures are expected to rise further as evening approaches.
