Palamu: Election Phase One Begins with Over 1.7 Million Voters

MEDININAGAR – In Jharkhand’s Palamu district, the first phase of assembly elections commenced today, with voting set to take place at 1,766 polling stations across five constituencies, involving over 1.7 million registered voters.

Election officials confirmed that all logistical and security measures have been organized for the large-scale operation, including helicopter deployment for remote polling teams. Voting teams for 226 booths had already been dispatched on Monday, with the remaining 1,570 dispatched under heightened security on Tuesday, according to District Commissioner Shashi Ranjan.

Extensive Security and Logistical Arrangements

The district has prioritized security for today’s election, especially for its remote and sensitive polling areas. To streamline and secure the polling process, nine highly sensitive booths have received air support, with helicopters used to deliver polling teams and equipment directly to their assigned clusters. The remaining polling teams were transported under tight security measures via road.

In a briefing at GLA College’s dispatch center, District Commissioner Ranjan provided final instructions to polling personnel. “Ensure a fair and orderly process, handling all aspects responsibly and transparently,” he advised. Ranjan also stated that sector magistrates were deployed alongside each polling team to oversee proceedings at the local level.

As part of a technology-focused approach to security, all 1,766 polling stations in the district have been equipped with GPS tracking, allowing real-time monitoring of the polling process. Authorities can track activities at each station online, enhancing response times for any security needs that arise.
