NIT Jamshedpur experts share insights at IE(I) event in Tata Steel

JAMSHEDPUR – The Institution of Engineers (India) Jamshedpur chapter hosted a workshop showcasing recent innovations in civil engineering at the SNTI Auditorium.

Ashok Kumar Das, former Chief Engineer of Jharkhand’s Water Resource Department, was the chief guest.

Parvesh Kumar Dhawan, Chief Scientist at CSIR-NML, chaired the session.

The event, organized by IE(I) Jamshedpur’s Honorary Secretary Thirumurugan, drew over 70 participants.

Attendees included academics, industry professionals, and students from various institutions.

NIT Jamshedpur, RVS College, and Maryland Institute of Technology were among the represented schools.

Professionals from Tata Steel, CSIR-NML, and other local companies also attended.

The workshop began with a ceremonial lamp lighting and welcome address by Dhawan.

Das shared his experiences handling flood situations in Valmikinagar during the inaugural session.

Prof. Anil Kumar Choudhary of NIT Jamshedpur delivered the keynote on ground improvement techniques.

Dr. Prahlad Prashad discussed earthquake-resistant designs for high-rise buildings.

Dr. J. Jayapal emphasized the importance of sustainability in civil engineering practices.

Onkar Singh, ex-Senior Manager at Tata Steel, presented on modern road construction methods.

Soumen Naskar, a Research Scholar, concluded with a talk on geosynthetics in ground improvement.

The workshop covered a wide range of topics relevant to current civil engineering practices.

This event highlighted the collaboration between academia and industry in advancing civil engineering.

The diverse audience reflected the broad interest in staying updated with engineering innovations.
