Jharkhand Party Announces 5 Candidates for Assembly Polls

Party to contest 20 seats, open to alliances with like-minded groups

Key Points:

• Jharkhand Party reveals 5 candidates, aims for 20 seats statewide

• Party president’s children among named candidates

• Rajkumar Munda joins party, likely to contest Tamar seat

JAMSHEDPUR – The Jharkhand Party has unveiled its first list of five candidates for the upcoming state Assembly elections, signaling its intent to compete in 20 seats across Jharkhand.

Party president Enos Ekka revealed the candidates during a press conference on Wednesday.

The list includes Columbus Hansda for Chaibasa and Mahendra Jamuda for Manoharpur.

Moreover, Ekka’s daughter Ireen and son Sandesh will contest from Simdega and Kolebira respectively.

Additionally, Anil Kumar Paswan has been nominated for the Kanke constituency.

Furthermore, Ekka expressed openness to forming alliances with parties prioritizing Jharkhand’s interests.

He confidently predicted the Jharkhand Party’s significant role in the post-election government formation.

Meanwhile, Rajkumar Munda, son of late minister Ramesh Singh Munda, joined the party with his supporters.

Munda is expected to be the party’s candidate for the Tamar seat.

This move could potentially pit him against his brother, current JMM MLA Vikas Munda.

On the other hand, the Tamar constituency holds historical significance for the Jharkhand Party.

In 2009, party candidate Raja Peter famously defeated then-Chief Minister Shibu Soren in a by-election.

The Jharkhand Party, founded in 1949, is one of the state’s oldest political organizations.

However, it has experienced several splits over the years before being revitalized in the 1970s under N.E. Horo’s leadership.
