RANCHI – Two unidentified men hurled a petrol bomb at the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh office in Nivaranpur late on Tuesday night, prompting a police investigation.
The attack targeted the RSS office located in the Nivaranpur area of Ranchi. Police said the assailants struck after dark.
However, the petrol bomb caused only minor damage to the premises, officials said. No injuries were reported in the incident.
Local residents alerted police after noticing the disturbance near the office. Officers rushed to the spot soon after receiving the information.
Meanwhile, investigators began collecting evidence from the site for examination. Police also started reviewing nearby CCTV footage to trace the attackers.
The Nivaranpur police station has registered a case in connection with the incident. Authorities have intensified their search for the two men.
Besides examining footage, officers are also questioning residents near the office. The investigation remains underway, police said.
Moreover, the RSS maintains several offices across Jharkhand, including in Ranchi. No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
The attack comes amid a series of security-related incidents across Jharkhand in recent days. A suspicious envelope was earlier found near a power installation in Ranchi. In Seraikela, three police personnel were suspended after a separate probe.
Besides that, Jharkhand has also witnessed political tension over the Rajya Sabha poll process this week. In Jamshedpur, police reported a chain snatching case involving gunfire at officers.
In addition, a viral video had exposed jail security lapses in the state recently. Separately, police arrested two brothers in a drug seizure case in Jugsalai.
Another police encounter had also left one accused injured earlier this week.
