IIT Kharagpur alumnus takes charge, aims to focus on crime control

JAMSHEDPUR – The Jharkhand government has appointed Kumar Shivashish, a Jamshedpur native, as the city’s new Superintendent of Police.
Shivashish completed his early education at Telco’s Little Flower School.
He finished his matriculation in 2011 before moving to Ranchi.
His father, Arun Kumar Mishra, served as the Chief Factory Inspector.
The family previously resided on Bagmati Road in Bistupur.
Following his schooling, Shivashish pursued higher education at IIT Kharagpur.
He earned a degree in computer science between 2013 and 2018.
In 2020, Shivashish joined the prestigious Indian Police Service.
He underwent training in Hazaribagh and later served as SDPO there.
The new City SP expressed fondness for his hometown upon his appointment.
He emphasized that crime control would be his primary objective.
Moreover, Shivashish plans to collaborate closely with all officers.
His strategy involves working with both senior and junior police personnel.
The goal is to maintain law and order effectively in Jamshedpur.
A local resident commented, "It’s inspiring to see a hometown boy return as our City SP."
On the other hand, challenges await the new SP in addressing the city’s security concerns.
