JAMSHEDPUR – A 75-year-old woman was robbed of her gold chain worth ₹2 lakh while crossing the road in Jamshedpur’s Sakchi area on Monday morning.
The victim, Urmila Devi, was crossing the Baradwari Main Road near Kashidih Line No. 8 when a man on foot snatched the chain from her neck.
The snatcher then quickly fled with his accomplice, who was waiting on a scooter nearby.
Despite the woman’s cries for help, the assailants escaped before anyone could intervene.
The incident, which occurred around Monday morning, was captured on CCTV cameras installed in the area.
Police have begun investigating the footage to identify the culprits.
The woman informed the police that the stolen chain was valued at approximately ₹2 lakh.
The man driving the scooter was wearing a helmet, while the passenger who grabbed the chain had covered his head with a cap, making identification difficult.
Police are now analyzing the CCTV footage to track down the suspects involved in the crime.
