JAMSHEDPUR – The Tata Steel Zoological Park hosted a fancy dress competition for school children as part of its ongoing Wildlife Week Celebrations 2024.

The event, held on the fourth day of the festivities, showcased the creativity of young participants.

Children from various schools donned animal-inspired costumes to compete in two categories.

In Category I, encompassing Nursery and Lower KG students, Trisha Sharma emerged victorious.

Her captivating Macaw costume impressed the judges, securing her the top spot.

Meanwhile, Divya Mahato claimed first place in Category II, which included Upper KG and Standard 1 students.

Her imaginative Caterpillar costume stood out among the entries.

Both winners represented different educational institutions.

Trisha hails from Motilal Nehru Public School, while Divya attends Kerala Public School, Gamharia.

A panel of four judges evaluated the participants’ costumes and presentations.

The judging panel consisted of Mrs. Sonia Bhatia, Ms. Mita Ghosh, Mr. Satyajeet Singh, and Dr. Seema Rani.

Their expertise ensured a fair assessment of the children’s efforts.

In addition to the winners, other students also received recognition for their performances.

Anaizah Khan and Divit Sarangi secured second and third places respectively in Category I.

For Category II, Shanvi Pandey and Aarvi Mallick claimed the runner-up positions.

The success of the Wildlife Week celebrations can be attributed to the dedication of the zoo staff.

Dr. Seema Rani, the Biologist cum Education Officer, spearheaded the coordination efforts.

She received valuable support from Mr. Pratap Gill and Sayok Sarkar, a Zoo Intern-cum-Volunteer.

Furthermore, volunteers from TSF contributed significantly to the event’s smooth execution.

As the Wildlife Week draws to a close, excitement builds for the final day’s activities.

An on-the-spot painting competition will take place for primary and junior categories.

The main lawn of the zoo will serve as the venue for this artistic endeavor.

Following the competition, a closing ceremony will mark the end of the celebrations.

Eminent guests are expected to grace the occasion with their presence.

The ceremony will also feature a prize distribution for various competitions held throughout the week.

Winners of the on-the-spot painting and essay writing contests will receive their well-deserved accolades.
