Transport Hub Opens in Ranchi, Easing City Traffic

CM inaugurates first phase, lays foundation for expansion project

Key Points:

• Jharkhand’s first transport hub inaugurated on Ranchi outskirts

• Facility aims to reduce city traffic and provide organized space for transporters

• Second phase to add more parking spaces and integrated facilities

JAMSHEDPUR – Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren inaugurated the state’s first transport hub on Ranchi’s outskirts, aiming to alleviate city traffic congestion.

The new ‘Transport Nagar’ marks a significant milestone for Ranchi’s infrastructure development.

Moreover, the hub provides a permanent address for transporters, addressing long-standing parking issues.

Chief Minister Soren also laid the foundation stone for the project’s second phase.

On the other hand, this expansion is expected to be completed within 18 months.

The first phase of the transport hub covers 40.68 acres in Sukurhuttu, Kanke block.

Meanwhile, the project’s initial phase cost approximately Rs 113.24 crore to develop.

The facility currently accommodates 424 trucks and offers various amenities for transporters.

Furthermore, it features an integrated building with office spaces and a dormitory.

Additionally, the hub includes warehouses, a fuel station, and recreational areas.

"This Transport Nagar will prove to be a milestone in the region’s development," Soren stated.

However, he emphasized that this is just the beginning of planned improvements.

The second phase will expand the project by 9.12 acres at an estimated cost of Rs 57.82 crore.

In contrast to the current setup, the expansion will add parking for 256 more trucks.

Besides additional parking, a four-storey integrated building is proposed in the second phase.

The hub also houses a food court, retail shops, and healthcare facilities.

Moreover, a police check post ensures security within the transport complex.

"Facilities will be expanded in accordance with increasing activities," the Chief Minister assured.

This development is expected to play a crucial role in Ranchi’s urban expansion.

Consequently, it will serve as a central point for cargo carriers from across the country.
